You don't need to know exactly what is wrong, or even what you want from therapy, before you begin.

Often we arrive with a story about what has happened and why we feel the way we do. That story matters, but it may not contain everything.

What brings you to therapy

You may be living with something painful, feeling overwhelmed, stuck in a pattern that keeps repeating, or simply sensing that something in your life needs attention.

Therapy offers a place where we can pay attention to what is happening — in your thoughts and feelings, in your relationships, and sometimes in what is harder to put into words.

Through that process, something different may begin to emerge.

My Approach

Relationship

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic traditions rather than asking you to fit within a particular model. At the centre of my work is the relationship we create together and a close attention to what is happening within it.

I am interested not only in the story you tell about your life, but in what may be happening beneath or alongside that story — patterns that repeat, feelings that are difficult to name, contractions, unexpected responses, and the ways we protect ourselves from experiences that have felt too difficult to encounter directly.

My way of working is active and relational. I will listen carefully, but I won't always remain silent. I may offer an observation, make connections, think aloud with you or gently question something that seems important. At times I may notice something emerging between us and wonder about it with you. You are always free to disagree; what matters is what we discover through thinking together.

Alongside psychological understanding, I bring an intuitive and transpersonal dimension to my work. For me, this means remaining open to aspects of ourselves that cannot always be easily explained or reduced to symptoms — including questions of meaning, identity, creativity and who we may be becoming.

Therapy can involve encountering painful or defended parts of ourselves, but it can also bring humour, surprise and moments of real recognition. I see the therapeutic relationship as a place where both can be held: the difficulty that has brought you here, and the possibility that there is more to you than the difficulty you are currently living through.

Supervision

I offer individual supervision to qualified and trainee therapists.

My approach to supervision is relational and integrative. Alongside thinking about the client and the therapeutic work, I am interested in what may be happening within the therapeutic relationship, what the work evokes in the therapist, and the wider contexts in which we practise.

I see supervision as a space for curiosity, reflection and honest thinking — somewhere uncertainty can be explored rather than something we to resolve too quickly.

About Jayne

I am an integrative and transpersonal psychotherapist and supervisor with over 15 years’ experience. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and an MSc in Psychology, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Alongside my private practice, I supervise therapists and therapists in training. I have worked as a training supervisor and currently supervise groups of students on the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling at the Psychosynthesis Trust’s low-cost counselling service.

Much of my private practice is longer-term, depth work. I work with people during times of difficulty, loss and transition, but also with those who may be functioning well while sensing that something continues to repeat, remains unresolved, or wants to be understood more deeply.

My thinking draws on relational and psychoanalytic ideas, psychology, philosophy and questions of meaning. I am particularly interested in how we come to understand ourselves — and what becomes possible when established ways of seeing ourselves begin to shift.

I am also beginning doctoral research at UCL, exploring how people’s experiences come to be understood and interpreted within relationships and institutions.
